Central Atolls Route: The most popular and accessible dive safari, available year-round. This is the best choice for first-time visitors to the Maldives and an excellent option for second or third trips. Whatever your underwater dreams are, this route offers diverse opportunities: manta cleaning stations, a 30-kilometer reef for spotting whale sharks, thrilling underwater mountains (“thilas”) teeming with marine life, channel dives, and magical night dives among hunting sharks, mantas, and groupers. It’s a perfect mix of everything the Maldives have to offer.

This route takes you through the northern regions of the Maldives and is considered one of the most thrilling. Hanifaru Bay, located in the Baa Atoll, is unique for its seasonal gatherings (May to November) of large numbers of mantas and whale sharks feeding on plankton rising from the depths.
In addition to Hanifaru, the itinerary may include dives at numerous reefs and channels in the northern atolls, offering sightings of sharks, rays, tropical fish, and vibrant coral gardens. Compared to the central atolls, the northern atolls are less frequented by tourists, ensuring a quieter and more pristine diving experience.

This itinerary is perfect for those seeking encounters with large pelagic fish. Throughout the trip, most dives take place in channels (kandu) between islands. The strong currents in these channels attract whitetip and gray reef sharks, with chances to spot hammerheads, tiger sharks, thresher sharks, oceanic mantas, large barracudas, and even mola-mola. Expect dives with incredible visibility, thanks to the constant west-to-east currents.
The highlight of this route is Fuvahmulah Island, renowned for its unique underwater landscapes and diverse marine life. Diving in this region offers opportunities to encounter tiger sharks, mantas, and a wealth of tropical fish in a truly spectacular setting.
